Scenario Planning for the Recreation Sector: Moving Ahead in Uncertain Times

The unknown brings with it many questions and challenges. The pandemic has required the recreation sector to shift its plans and prepare for a different reality. The presenters will guide you through a scenario planning process and provide four sector related case studies related to programming, summer staffing, outdoor spaces, and facilities, that will also help you to think through your next steps as the sector prepares for reopening. A work guide will be provided.
Tricia, while teaching Physical Education at Dr. John Hugh Regional High School, discovered her passion for fitness. This passion has led her to a 33 year career teaching all forms of fitness, training new instructors and mentoring both Fitness leaders and Personal Trainers. In 1994, she left her hometown of Antigonish to become the Director of Adult Health Enhancement at the Sault Ste Marie YMCA. At the YMCA, which boasted a membership of over 7000 members, Tricia managed all the Adult Programs with a skeleton staff of paid employees and over 200 volunteers!
Max is a nationally certified trainer and facilitator and holds both an MBA and an MSc in Strategic Planning. Those who have worked with Max Chauvin know he will provide tough love when required and will do everything he can to ensure that each group achieves its potential, changing forever the lives of its members, friends, and neighbours. He has been honoured twice by Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second for community leadership and volunteerism, as well as receiving similar recognition from both the Province of Nova Scotia and the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Kirk is the Recreation Manager for Cape Breton Regional Municipality. He brings 15 years of experience in the sport, recreation and health fields, having worked in various positions across all levels of government. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics, a Master of Physical Education, and is currently a Master of Business Administration candidate.
